Kivu Cold Group - Solar Powered Cold Storage

Kivu Cold Group in partnership X, Y, Z and Leapr Labs has successfully developed a solar powered cold stage for farmers.

Problem statement

In Rwanda, post-harvest loss causes annual economic losses of up to USD 1.22 billion*, and this is one of the major issues in PSTA 4 (the Transformation of Agriculture Sector Program 4).

Solution Provided

In this research, we develop and test the prototype of a service which solves post-harvest loss by using off-grid renewable energy driven cold storage and easy-and-fast mobile application. Through this project, we realise agriculture in which all produce is distributed in the best shape, at the best price, to the best market by construction of off-grid cold chain and crop trading platforms in Rwanda.

Juru Systems - Real Time Image Processing UAS

Juru Systems in partnership with Leapr Labs and Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany and Stiftung IBS is developing systems to help identifying agricultural used and unused lands and doing crops growth analysis using Machine Learning techniques.

Problem statement

In order to achieve precision Agriculture, there is a need to observe, measure and analyse the soil and crops by using drones in order to know the soil compatibility with different crops, image processing to notice the crops condition, and identifying used and unused lands.

Solution Provided

Building a machine learning enabled device for Unmanned Aerial System to automatically and efficiently monitor crops conditions, used and unused agricultural land.
